Essentials of RMTi
Half-day introduction
A gentle on-ramp to rhythmic movement — perfect for parents and educators curious about the approach.
Premalatha Shanmugam is the founder of kinesiology in Malaysia and a member of the global RMTi Advisory Board. For more than two decades, she has taught students, parents, and practitioners how to support learning, movement, and emotional balance through Rhythmic Movement Training (RMTi), the Emmett Technique, and Touch for Health.
Premalatha describes herself as "an individual, living life through the various roles with a difference." She credits Rhythmic Movement Training International (RMTi) with empowering her both as a person and as a mother — and it is that same possibility she now extends to families and students across Malaysia, Singapore, and the wider region.
As the founder of kinesiology in Malaysia, Premalatha has spent more than two decades introducing body-based wellness practices to a country where complementary therapies were once barely known. Today, through her teaching and clinical work in Kuala Lumpur, she has trained hundreds of students — parents, teachers, therapists, and practitioners — in the foundational tools of kinesiology.
She is a member of the RMTi Advisory Board and a certified RMTi Consultant and Instructor, and she continues to practise and teach the Emmett Technique and Touch for Health alongside RMTi.
Whether you are a parent, teacher, therapist, or practitioner-in-training, there is an entry point for you. All courses are taught in English in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with regular intakes throughout the year.

Enquire about the next intakePremalatha's clinical practice is built on three evidence-informed, gentle modalities. Sessions are available for children and adults.
Focus · Emotions · Reading & Writing
A movement-based programme that revisits the rhythmic motions infants naturally make, helping to integrate retained primitive reflexes. Widely used to support children with learning, attention, and behavioural challenges — and equally valuable for adults carrying chronic stress patterns.
Gentle · Fast-acting · Whole-body
A series of light, precise muscle releases that can bring rapid relief from pain, stiffness, and restricted movement. Suitable for all ages, the Emmett Technique works with the body's natural responses rather than forcing change.
Muscle testing · Energy balance · Self-care
A foundational kinesiology system that uses gentle muscle feedback to identify imbalances and restore flow between the body's meridians and muscles. Equally a healing modality and a practical self-care toolkit students can take home.
Premalatha volunteers with MHHO (Malaysian Hindu Humanitarian Organisation), bringing rhythmic movement and gentle kinesiology to children with special needs. It is patient, close-to-heart work — simple sessions that make room for calm, focus, and connection.
Through regular free-clinic and education days, Premalatha brings kinesiology to people who might never otherwise encounter it.
A long-time student and practitioner of Chen-style tai chi — another lineage of mindful movement that informs her teaching of breath, posture, and grounded attention.
Premalatha represents the kinesiology community at national health events, advocating for complementary wellness to sit alongside mainstream care.
